| RIP Pyewacket |

Pyewacket May 8, 1988 - December 4, 2006

Sometimes we don't realize the value of a pet. No matter the difference between them and a human being they are still a companion and a friend. When they come into your life for any length of time, they become a significant part of it no matter what you believe or how you think.
Pyewacket was born on Mother's Day 1988 in Ft. Myers, FL as part of a small litter born to our older outdoor cat Blacky. I was there shortly after it happened - not long after church. My mother had stayed home that day to play midwife since she had studdied to be a vetrinarian for a time. Two of the kittens instantly stood out to us and clinged to us becoming part of the family. Pyewacket a black long hair with a white bikini named for the black cat in "Bell, Book, and Candle" and her sister Tabatha (Tigger before we were aware of her gender) a long-haired tabby named for the daughter on "Bewitched" were two of the most playful and good natured kittens that ever lived.
Shortly after being weaned, Blacky disappeared with her litter ironically leaving just these two behind. Later the brood would be picked up by the humane society where they would each find good homes. Pyewacket and her sister remained with us living pampered lives for outdoor pets on the pool area. They found much joy spending time with their fellow outdoor mates, Bootsie who now resides in another good home, Debbie who decided to remain behind following a later move, and her two kittens, Blackey II who disappeared and Little Tom who made his home wandering the neighborhood. In 1992 Pyewacket and Tabatha briefly disappeared following Hurricane Andrew. Pywacket returned a few days later and Tabatha returned after several months. Unfortunately, she did not stay around and Pyewacket was the only one to make the move in 1993.
Before we were even settled into the new home, Pyewacket made it very clear that she no longer wished to live outside by climbing the neighbor's house and making an all around nuisance of herself. We brought her in and she quickly made the transition to indoor pet.
From the time she came inside, Pyewacket had to play second fiddle to roomate Jezzibel (Wezum). Quite clearly the beta female she often hid herself away in the closet or preferably under the bed where only her eyeshine would inform you of her presence. For this constant hiding, her silence, and her color she earned the nickname "shaddow." She lived up to it well preferring to habitate places that we didn't and patches of black hair could frequently be found in rooms not inhabited by humans.
In 1998, Jezzibel passed on and Pyewacket became queen of the house but continued to live up to her standards of hiding. Never once did she jump up on the bed or any other furniture. Her residence was moved into more frequented locations to force her to socialize and in her later years she became more outgoing and very vocal. Despite being rather large and having cataracts, Pyewacket was extremely healthy for a cat of her age.
On November 27, 2006 we returned home from a short vacation to discover she had suffered a stroke. Showing no signs of improvement the decision was made to humanely let her pass a week later at the age of 18 more than 100 in equivalent human years. She died in the presence and comfort of the skilled doctors and nurses at Coral Vet Clinic in Ft. Myers. Her remains were cremated and will be ceremoniously entombed at a final resting place. She leaves behind owners Dr. Paul & Patricia Brown, human friends Christopher, Nicholas, Deborah, Mike, and Rick, and playmates Tony (Golden Retriever) and Tiffany (Persian).
Maybe it was the fact that we grew up together or perhaps I feel I wasn't close enough to her. Or perhaps it's just that all pets are special, we love them, and that's why we keep them. Either way, Pyewacket was special to me and I will surely miss her. |

If you so much as see this, whether you read it all the way through or not, please post a comment. It can be one word, a novel, or any thing in between I just want to know if you saw it.
I ask this not because I'm on some ego trip or in whoa as me state of mind over the number of people or lack there of that read my journal, but am instead trying to find out exactly who does read it because I'm seriously considering discontinuing posting and instead moving my blogs somewhere else like DA or something where I could reach more of my friends but I certainly don't want to alienate the ones I have here if I still have a significant number left lurking and I just don't know about it. Regardless I'll still keep the account to keep up with a few friends and clubs in there postings... I just may move mine elsewhere.

| | Find Yourself - Brad Paisley - Cars Soundtrack | ] | Wow, things are finally settling down enough where I can sit down and update my journal. Lots to say so I'll try to be brief.
Vacation How nice it was to get away. Tallahassee, Nashville, Ohio, Charlotte, Orlando, and back to Fort Myers for nearly a week off with Carrie for a grand total of three very enjoyable weeks.
Cars Premeire The Premeire of Cars was totally awesome! The movie is great and I got my press pass AND got to walk the red carpet. Nearly run over by Larry the Cable Guy too (Also got to shake Ed Catmull's hand). Was pleasantly surprised by the Brad Paisley mini-concert too. Good times despite the rain and pittbulllady was one of the sweetest, most funny people I've ever met. I won't bore you with more details, I have a whole review posted as the top story at www.animated-news.com ***includes pictures*** - go check it out if you want more details!
Disney! Yeah - had a blast but spent way too much money here (how can you not). =P Expedition Everest is officially the sweetest ride ever. The three days here were wicked awesome and the best I've ever had at the park. I really must go there more often. And of course - I snatched up all the Incredi-merch I could - hence the spent way too damn much money part. Went to Downtown Disney too and did Disney Quest (very cool - a first for me) and saw X3 at the AMC (kickass movie) I could say so much more and perhaps I will another time but right now I've more to say.
Carrie Having her in Fort Myers was great despite the fact she had to *gulp* meet my family. She was a hit though - especially with Christopher. I feel so close to her now and we made some real special memories on this trip. We went down to Naples to see where she used to live (yeah - go figure - who moves FROM Naples TO Ohio =P). We also went to Bunche Beach (that place ain't as bad as I'd heard it had gotten). We were gonna go to Clam Pass in Naples but got there at dusk as it closed so we drove up to FMB nd the place looked like Coney Island. So we went up to BB and it was nice (what a relief) beautiful night beneath a gorgeous moon and we had the beach almost all to ourselves from 9:00 when we got there to when we left at midnight. 6/3/06 will long be a special day in my memory. I really miss her already.
Disney Store Woohoo!!! Guess who got his job! Work is great and I'm working almost 30 hours a week - it's really great and soooo much fun. Now - if my uniform would just come in *grumbles*. Note to self - Joni's 7s look like 4s - yeah oops - came in at 4 today when I wasn't scheduled 'til 7. No biggie though.
Cars I mentioned it above but this is a kickass movie and so will be Ratatouille when it comes out next year (Brad Bird is a God). One Man Band is sweet too. I've already seen it twice - anyone wanna go with me again?
Alberto Hey, this was a nice little surprise. Looks like it'll be another year like the last two and it's already firing up. I can't wait! (Yeah - I know - I'm sick and sadistic).
So - last but not least I'm home again and am usually free unless working. Give me a call sometime (239)810-4064. I'm dying to get out, hang out, and just go do something fun.
See y'all around! =D |

[May. 14th, 2006|01:35 am] |
Well, well, well, guess who called me back?!
That's right! I've been hired by the Disney Store! I go down to sign the paper work tomorrow when I will oficially become a cast member and I start in on June 1st! I'm so excited about this - it's my first real job and the one place I really want to work. I mean seriously, these people are PAYING ME to make kids smile, play with all their Incredibles toys, and occasionally make a few sales. How much better can a job get?! I absolutely cannot wait! =D
Hey, come on in sometime and *maybe* I'll let you get to the back wall. Coming out is whole 'nother story though. >) |

| Real Update |
[Apr. 27th, 2006|01:21 am] |
Well - I haven't put a real update in this thing in a while so here goes.
Over all life is pretty good right now. I was recently elected Treasurer of the College Republicans making me probably one of the most scrutinized students at all of Florida State. We're among the largest and most disliked organizations by the liberal administration on this campus and you can bet they will make sure I dot every i and cross every t when it comes to handling those A&S tuition monies. It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it.
I'm taking TaeKwonDo again. I've got my Yellow belt already and am coming back up on May 15th to prepare to test for my Green on May 20th. It's a part of the big summer trip I'm planning this year. That's the first leg. Second I will head up to Nashville and stay with my elusive uncle whom I haven't seen in about 2 or 3 years for a couple of days. I guess I should call him and tell him I'm coming LOL. Then I'm headed to Ohio to pick up Carrie so we can drive our butts down to Concord, NC for the World Premeire of Disney/Pixar's Cars on May 26th!!! Yes - that's right - I'm going to the World Premeire! All the stars and big wigs will be there including Owen Wilson, Bonnie Hunt, Larry the Cable Guy, and even the great John Lasseter!!! I'm also counting on god himself (aka Brad Bird) being there! :)
After that we will then be driving down for a 3 day stay at Disney World before returning to Ft. Myers for a few days. At that point though Carrie can find her own flight back to Ohio LOL. The only problem now is finding money for gas, 2.5 nights in a hotel, Disney tickets, and other more minor expenses. Curse you almighty dollar!!! Oh well - does any one else find it weird I'm taking a trip with my EX-girlfriend???
Let's see - what else. Exams are almost over. Just two easy ones left that require the paroting of memorised material then I can walk awa with my AA. I'm on auto-pilot now. Of course one WOULD be on the last possible exam time Friday. Grrr - so much for early starts to the Summer. Oh well I still have to clean my appartment some more before leaving anyway. I also have an extra credit project in Ancient Mythology writing a one-page report comparing Frosty the Snow Man to the archetype of a dying god. This will almost be as good as the 6 page report comparing Theseus to Harry Potter LOL!
Random note: Don't put off reports about Theseus and Harry Potter until the morning it's due or you WILL have Harry Potter stress dreams.
Random fact: I've become addicted to West Wing... again!
Random story: I was definitely stuck with friends (yes I have RL friends now! Aren't you proud?!) at Governor's Square Mall on Saturday with no power for an hour. Bad storm with much hail, flooding, and a tornado. We did our duty though and helped out places at the food court that had to sell their stuff off fast. I also explained how hail works to more people that day. It's cool knowing all the intricate facts about it so I can sound real smart(ass) around everyone.
Family's doing well... I guess. They don't really tell me things anymore. Christopher was having real tough times the last couple of weeks but an increse in his meds *seems* to have straightened it out. I've had a bit of a falling out with my family lately. We just don't see eye to eye any more. I still love them but there's some real shit going on between us that shouldn't be happening and it's driving me crazy. I'm still not sure how I will survive the whole Summer with them.
One way I'll get away is movies!!! Movies, popcorn, and soda for a buck on May 1, 2, & 3 at the new Gulf Coast Town Center 16. Who wants to go live there wit me those 3 days??? Also planning to see X-men 3, Cars, and Snakes on a Plane on opening night if anyone wants to go.
So anyway - this post is vastly too long as is so I will leave you with a question to force you to spend more time and comment. Where should I work this Summer since the Disney Store hasn't called me back and my Disney World internship definitely didn't work out??? |

| | crushed | ] | This is it. I'm swearing of April Fools forever. I've never been one for pranks but I decided to try my hand this year. I pulled off a duzy of one but in the process hurt the best friend I ever had. I can't believe it. I honestly feel like a heel as I had no idea it was going to be such a huge deal for them. I wish I could take it all back now. Anyway - I'm backing out of my other planned pranks for today and I swear to you I'm never doing another one again. :(
And just in case you read this. I'm still so so sorry. I really had no idea and never meant to hurt you. |

| Snakes on a Plane UPDATE!!!! :-D |
[Mar. 24th, 2006|12:32 am] |
From The Hollywood Reporter (subscription required, so I copied and pasted just for you):
Fan frenzy for 'Snakes' is on a different plane (By Borys Kit)
As film backstories go, this one is fairly serpentine. This month, New Line Cinema's "Snakes on a Plane," which wrapped principal photography in September in Vancouver, went back before the cameras for five days of additional shooting at the Lot in Los Angeles.
In this case, it wasn't the usual reshoot, hastily assembled to fix a nagging story problem. Instead, the studio decided to create new scenes that would take the movie from PG-13 into R-rated territory.
The second round of filming also came about because of intense and growing fan interest in the movie, which was directed by David R. Ellis and is not scheduled to be released until Aug. 18.
"Snakes" stars Samuel L. Jackson as an FBI agent who has to fight a planeload of snakes unleashed by an assassin bent on killing a witness in protective custody. Sight unseen, the movie has grown from something of a joke into a phenomenon slithering untamed throughout the Internet.
As a movie whose fan base has grown spontaneously and organically, "Snakes" is relatively rare.
Intense fan reaction to movies most often is associated with titles that have established themselves in other media, such as comic book movies or fantasy novels, before making their way to the screen. Or it becomes attached to surprise hits, like the original "Star Wars," that develop massive cult followings once they are released.
But original movies that develop a big prerelease following are uncommon. Artisan Entertainment pulled off that trick in 1999 with its viral Internet campaign for "The Blair Witch Project," but that success has not been easily duplicated.
"Snakes," based an original script by John Heffernan (with rewrites by David Louca, Sheldon Turner, Sebastian Gutierrez and Chris Morgan) barely has an official Web site at the moment. But the movie, produced by Craig Berenson, Don Granger and Gary Levinsohn, already is the talk of a certain segment of the Net without any real prodding on the part of New Line.
It all started with the provocative and buzzworthy, if also reductive, title. New Line picked up the script in turnaround from Paramount Pictures in March 2003 -- in the wake of Sept. 11, terror-on-a-plane movies had fallen out of favor. And even within New Line, there were skeptics who viewed "Snakes on a Plane" as nothing but a simple programr with a "stupid title."
After Jackson came on board as the star, the title was upgraded to the more generic "Pacific Air Flight 121." The studio said it was a temporary moniker being used for "casting purposes." Executives were searching for something that was more thriller-like and less campy. According to sources, Jackson's camp also was in favor of a title change.
"Who wants to be in a movie called 'Snakes on a Plane'?" asked one talent agent at the time, seeming to echo the studio's concerns.
But once production began, a funny thing happened. Movie fans began noticing the black sheep of the New Line slate. They seized upon the title and started spontaneously creating fan sites, blogs, T-shirts, poems, fiction and songs. The title itself, sometimes abbreviated as "SoaP," has emerged as Internet-speak for fatalistic sentiments that range from c'est la vie to "shit happens."
"The title is so clear and so straightforward," said Brian Finkelstein, a Washington, D.C., native who created the blog Snakesonablog.com and who hopes to score tickets to the movie's premiere. "You know exactly what you're going to get."
Like Harry Potter, whose first suggestion that he's got magic on his hands comes when he discovers he can talk to snakes in their language , New Line got the message. Deciding that so many anonymous fans couldn't be wrong, the studio decided to revert to the movie's original title.
Jackson publicly endorsed the move. "That's the only reason I took the job: I read the title," Jackson told entertainment site Collider.com. He added, "You either want to see that, or you don't."
New Line execs, concerned that it is too early to discuss the movie, declined comment. But sources now insist the studio never abandoned the "Snakes" title in the first place and that "Pacific Air" was just an internal working title.
In any event, "Snakes"-ophiles already were hard at work. Chris Rohan of Bethesda, Md., created an elaborate, R-rated audio trailer that lovingly mocks the title and movie. "It's a genius title," Rohan said. "It's so stupid it's great. It invites satire, but it's something you just love. It's something I can't explain. You either get it or you don't."
The audio bit uses a Jackson sound-alike shouting, "I want these m*****f****** snakes off the m*****f****** plane!" Soon, the growing legion of fans added their voices as they demanded that that phrase also appear in the movie.
Apparently, the studio got the hint. When Ellis assembled Jackson and others for the recent shoot, the filmmakers added more gore, more death, more nudity, more snakes and more death scenes. And they shot a scene where Jackson does utter the line that fans have demanded.
Those involved with the film said the reshoots weren't prompted by fans but rather by the existing footage that already was a hairline into R territory. Within the studio, the thinking was, "We're already going to get an R, why not go all the way?" But the filmmakers do concede that the Jackson line will be in the movie for the sake of the fans.
Meanwhile, the phenomenon keeps growing.
David Coin, a Maryland-based friend of Rohan, pitched in by creating a "Snakes" song and is working on a second.
New Line, in turn, is reaching out to the fans. In response to populist "Snakes" songs already created, the studio has just teamed up with social-networking site TagWorld.com to launch a contest that will allow one lucky winner's song to be featured in the movie. |
